Peter Ellis (1950) was born in Manchester.
He attended Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, 1979–83, then Royal College of Art, 1984–7. Ellis often painted in acrylic, abstracts employing circles and elliptical themes. Ellis won the Mario Dubsky Travel Award in 1987 and gained a Rothko Fellowship in 1990. He appeared in group exhibitions at Pomeroy Purdy Gallery, Camden Arts Centre, Nigel Greenwood Gallery, Fischer Fine Art and Cooling Gallery. In 1989 he was an Artist of the Day at Flowers East; he was in American Passion: The Collection of Susan Kasen Summers and Robert Summers, McLellan Galleries in Glasgow and Royal College of Art, both 1995; and in the 1997–8 and 1999–00 John Moores Liverpool Exhibitions. Exhibited solo with Anthony Wilkinson Fine Art, from 1994.
